Katherine Murray

Registered Massage Therapist

Katherine graduated from a 2200hr massage therapy program at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Halifax (2012).

She has a passion for supporting individual and family health and wellness. She attended college knowing her focus would be perinatal health and this has evolved to include more pelvic heath work over the last few years.

Previously, Katherine earned a double major in Psychology & Women’s Studies from Acadia University (2005). She worked for several years as a transition home worker for women and children fleeing abuse, and later as a foster care worker supporting foster families to ensure they had the support and resources they needed most. This role also required Katherine to help match children to families who could best suit their care.

A few years later she changed paths to study massage therapy and graduated with honours and an award from the Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia for her professionalism and patient care.

Katherine completed birth doula training through DONA International with the Chebucto Family Centre (2013) and further expanded her massage skills while supporting families in the Halifax area through birth and early postpartum.

Katherine has advanced certificates in pre and postnatal care and was trained by Erika Burger through the RMT Approaches for Pelvic Pain & Dysfunction course.

Katherine has teaching experience at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in coursework related to hands-on clinical skills, initial assessment practice, and a specialized pregnancy/postpartum clinic working  with senior students.

Her direct massage experience includes treating patients living with chronic pain, pelvic dysfunction, perinatal patients as well as those managing anxiety/PTSD/depression.

She has navigated many health care systems as a patient seeking help for pelvic health dysfunction and reproductive care – experiences which have provided her with a unique perspective and empathy for her patients. She looks forward to meeting new friendly faces and can’t wait to help her patients reach their best health!
